About The Camp

The purpose of Tanglewood Christian Camp is to promote and conduct Christian education and benevolent activities, to operate a camp in which meetings are held, to instruct in Christian ideals and principles of faith and practice, to further the restoration of New Testament Christianity, its doctrine, its ordinances, its program and plea and its fruits and practice with the Bible as the only divine authority.

Under this guidance, faith, repentance, confession and an immersion in water of the penitent believer for the remission of sins shall be presented in the plan of salvation along with living the Christian life in accord with the Scriptures.

Tanglewood Christian Camp is located in Tanglewood, Texas between Lexington and Rockdale, Texas. Just off of highway 77, it is just 45 minutes from Temple and Bryan and merely 1 hour from Austin, Texas.

Johnny K. Menges Sr. is the camp manager.

During the month of May 1975 Tanglewood Christian Camp was initiated by the filing of its constitution and bylaws and the purchase of 20 acres. Tanglewood Christian Camp now covers 50 acres. The camp has a chapel, 5 dorms, 5 study gazebos, a dining hall, cafeteria, swimming pool, two sand beach volleyball courts, basketball, baseball field, and a new recreation room.

Tanglewood Christian Camp is supported by 44 New Testament Independent Christian Churches and Church of Christ Churches. The camp is governed by a 13 member Executive Board and a General Board that consists of three representatives from the supporting churches. There are two scheduled board meetings each year to set the camp dates and guidelines. To become a supporter and a participating church of the camp you must be an independent New Testament Christian Church or Church of Christ.
